Recent Projects

Economics of Electronic Commerce: For an investment bank, Bill analyzed the fundamental economic factors behind electronic commerce, distinguishing between solid foundation and investment hype. Identified strategies that make sense, and barriers to rapid adoption of electronic commerce.

Expert Witness: Provided testimony or reports. Two involve savings and loan associations, stemming from the changes in regulations in 1990, one of which is among the largest federal claims ever filed. Other expert reports have involved mortgage interest rates and business valuation.

Real Estate Economics: Bill makes presentations to real estate investors and developers. He has analyzed the economic impacts of a new sand and gravel facility, worked on the economic implications of development of health care facilities, and has assessed the economic outlook of different metropolitan areas for a major real estate investor.

Thinking Economics: an interactive textbook: Associate editor of an interactive high school economics "textbook," to be delivered via the Internet and CD-ROM, in which economics will come alive via video, animated charts and interactive exercises as well as traditional words and charts.

Tax Analysis: Prepared a study of Oregon's state income tax on capital gains for Associated Oregon Industries. Bill is frequently consulted by members of the legislature and lobbyists about tax revenue issues.
