Malkiel Revisits Stock Indexing
Burton Malkiel is a Princeton professor who wrote the classic, A Random Walk Down Wall Street, now in its 9th edition. Jim Picerno has a good interview with him in Wealth Manager.
Malkiel distills up-to-date economic research into common sense language, providing good investment advice for the layman. If you had followed his advice dating from the publication of the first edition of his book, you would have outperformed most professional investment managers–with much less work and worry. The latest edition incorporates recent research into "behavioral finance," which concerns human errors in investing. The new edition also adds a chapter on investing in retirement, relevant to the millions of boomers thinking about knocking off work. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the link to the Malkiel interview. The Random Walk book was one of the first I read in college when I was learning about investing.
