John Allison, the CEO of BB&T Bank, gave a tremendously good interview on Russ Roberts’s EconTalk podcast.  Allison has helped build BB&T into a profitable and growing bank by emphasizing ten key values that should guide every employee’s work.  The values are described here.

The interview almost sounds like John Galt speaking, but philosophy aside, Allison’s values are clearly keys to business success.  Some of them, like Reality (Fact-Based Decision-making) I’ve emphasized in this blog, here, here, and here.

EconTalk is usually about academic economics, but this foray into corporate strategy would be worthwhile for any business leader.
